During this scene, we find out that Herbie and Joseph are good friends and like to past the time talking about murder mysteries and better yet, how they would murder each other without being caught. Herbie is introduced standing awkwardly near a doorway while the rest of the family is together. This character being the eccentric next-door neighbor and close friend of Joseph Newton, Herbie Hawkins.
